Mono Hot Springs Camp Trip

We had a family camping trip this weekend at Mono Hot Springs. It took us 6 1/2 hours to get there. Thank goodness Sophie is such a great kid and the fact that we didn't take Sammy with us. It was a long drive but so worth it. It was a beautiful place in the middle of no where. The last hour and 1/2 was the craziest. It was a one way road with some pavement, some gravel, and some dirt. It was also pretty steep and you drove right along some crazy cliffs. The views were breath taking. We hiked about 20 miles all together and Sophie did great, for the most part. She had a couple of break downs, but nothing major. The trails we hiked were a little sketchy at times. We lost one of the trails at one point and started coming across a lot of Bear poop. Not a good thing. Luckily we had our Bear bell and Bear pepper spray!!! There were a few times when we thought a Bear was close by because of the noise's we were hearing, but we didn't see any.

The pictures below just don't even do this place justice. The 2nd hike we did was pretty tuff and when we got to the top, about 9000 ft, there was this huge lake that was surrounded by even bigger mountains. It was called Devils Bathtub so we figured it would be one of the Hot Springs and that we could take a dip in it. Not the case. It was freezing. Our camp site was perfect. We had a beautiful stream right behind us that put us to sleep every night and more stars in the sky than I had ever seen before. All in all it was a great Father's Day weekend.

To Michael- I hope you had a great Father's Day with Sophie and I. We love you very much and you are an amazing Father and Husband. We could not have been blessed with anyone better. You made the weekend perfect!!!!
